Excel Text Functions and Filtering:
- Text Functions:
- TEXT functions in Excel allow you to manipulate and analyze text data. Some common ones include:
- CONCATENATE: Combines text from multiple cells into one.
- LEFT and RIGHT: Extracts a specified number of characters from the left or right side of a text string.
- MID: Extracts characters from the middle of a text string.
- LEN: Calculates the length (number of characters) in a text string.
- LOWER and UPPER: Converts text to lowercase or uppercase.
- SUBSTITUTE: Replaces occurrences of a specific substring within a text string.
- FIND and SEARCH: Locate the position of a substring within a text string.
- TRIM: Removes extra spaces from a text string.
- TEXT functions in Excel allow you to manipulate and analyze text data. Some common ones include:
- Filtering Text:
- Filtering allows you to temporarily hide some data in a table, focusing on what you want to see.
- To filter text values:
- Select any cell within your data range.
- Go to the Data tab and click Filter.
- Click the arrow next to the column header where you want to apply the filter.
- Choose Text Filters and select options like Equals, Begins With, or Contains.
- Enter your filter criteria (e.g., “Memory” or “rd”) and click OK.
